Anyone good with electronics?

Right i like making weird and wonderful things, my next thing is a coil gun, ive acquired some 67000uf capacitors (~20) some 1.5mm magnet wire enameled and just got my SCR. The trigger circuit im not sure about.... it seems as simple as having a voltage more positive than the cathode which should be 0vso doing what ive shown here should work, i just dont wanna sent my full current through the battery and into the gate frying it, anyone had experience with SCRs? 

As you see the switches are all on on so the charger disconnects as the gate is triggered hopefully protecting it. 

 

I know in this setup i will have to keep the trigger pulled to ensure the caps have fully discharged to let the scr stop conducting.
