Asus A7N8X Deluxe with a AMD Athlon XP 1600+ @ 1.4GHz. Graphics was an nvidia geforce 2 256mb (I think). I had a 15 inch CRT and if my memory is right I had Nvidia active shutter 3D glasses that worked pretty much the same as Nvidia 3D vision does today, only the glasses were wired. The popularity of LCDs killed 3D for quite a while. Before that I had a 300mHz celeron and before that a P100 (Pentium 100mHz) but those were bought complete. Before that a Commodore C64 and a SNES.

Now I have a 4770K/Titan/etc (read my build post) and it sits next to my SNES which is still working and still connected to my TV with 15 games ready to play. The games save function still works to my amazement considering they are from the early 90s and saving with SNES cartridges relies on a CR2032 battery to power the memory constantly!!! That's 20 years those batteries have been going! (makes me wonder how I've had several bios batteries die inold Asus motherboards given they also are CR2032 batteries) I don't think it will be long before the SNES+games are worth more than the titan.

I don't know that I can comment on this because I'm still not happy with my build. Only once it is complete will I say that I have finished a build. I have gone through 2 PSU's and 2 GPU's though.

The first step to insanity is believing in your sanity.

I beleive it was:

Pentium II 233MHz

64MBs RAM

A motherboard (;P)

200W PSU

Rage 64 GPU

CompUSA Beige Case

CD-ROM 24x

Windows 95

Mind you I don't know everything about the computer because I had it when I was 4-5ish?

Now the first computer I ever built completely on my own with my own parts was:

Athlon II X2 250

MSI 760GM-P33

G.SKILL 2x4GB DDR3 1333MHz "NS Series"

Sapphire Radeon 6450 1GB DDR3

Rosewill Stallion 400W PSU

APEX Vortex 3620mini

WD Blue 500GB SATA 3.0Gbps HDD

LITE-ON DVD-ROM SATA ODD

I have a laptop that sucks because I'm broke.

CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 250 @ 3GHz

Motherboard - ASUS M4A78 Plus

Memory - OCZ OCZ2VU8002GK 2GB (2x 1GB) 800 "vista Upgrade"

Graphics - EVGA 9800GTX+ 512MB(Brother still uses this)

Power Supply - OCZ Fatal1ty 550W (Brother still uses this)

HDDs - 240GB HDD IDE

- 80GB HDD SATA

- 120GB HDD SATA (Brother still uses this)

Case - ARK GL-09A

OS - Win XP

Monitor - eMachine CRT then upgraded to Acer 1440x900 monitor (When they started with the jet/angle look)

I got Call of Duty World at War with the 9800GTX+ for free!

The case was the worst case I've ever bought. The front was made really cheap plastic and 2 of the 6 clips were broke right out of the box. Then 2 more broke after taking it off to clean the dust out, had to use electrical tape to hold it together and make it less noticeable. The buttons for the DVD drive broke if you pushed too hard or if there was nothing behind them.

I used this system until 2011 and upgraded to the system I have now.
