Hi

My laptop (asus k53sv) screen started to flicker, distort the image and eventually would fade into a full white screen. This happened all of the sudden when it was just sitting on the desk.

Here is a gif i made of it, and it is either this or fading into a full white screen :  http://i.imgur.com/2nDgmZf.gifv

Usually a few taps, sometimes light and other times not so much, make it snap out of it and go back to regular screen for few seconds or minutes and then its back to that.I thought it could be the flex cables that were loose, so i opened the screen frame and checked and applied some tape to reinforce the connections of the cables behind the panel, even though everything looked fine.

Also, some relevant aspects. When connected to a external screen it works fine and this started after a replacement of the charging cable that goes from the power brick to the laptop. It might be coincidence or not, but the charger does work and charge the laptop so i don't know if could be related or not.

Anyone has any idea of what can cause this or if there is a fix? I was looking into buy a new laptop since this seems like an issue that would require maybe a new screen and i didn't wan't to invest much more money into this laptop since i already had some multiple repairs and some keys don't work, but i just remembered that maybe someone here could have some insight on this or maybe even a fix i could try that could hold me off for sometime until i can find a laptop that i can really say "i want that one" since im having a though time deciding and if i can still keep this laptop with one less problem, even better.

Thank you!

Anyone?

Something i noticed is that when it happens is if i apply pressure on to the screen on the right side it seems to fix it for a bit and then reverts back to the same.

I have tried open it up and see if anything is poorly connected or loose, but everything seems fine
