100% Disk Usage in Windows 8

Greetings!

I have a Lenovo Y510p laptop, and the Hard Drive is : ST1000LM014-1EJ164.

I'm not sure if it's just really sh*t, or if it is windows or another program is causing the problem.

 

I have set a custom Page file size, didn't seem to do anything. I have also disabled Superfetch and Windows Scearch processes, it didn't solve the problem either, it just made the 100% spikes intermittent. It happens randomly where the highest transfer rates are at 3.9 MB/s. This is slowing my computer down terribly. I'm thinking of buying a Western Digital Back² drive(A drive Linus reviewed a while back), if I can't solve this.

Try and turn off Superfetch if you haven't already.

I've seen some issues like this that involve issues with virus protection software doing some of the drive hogging. Sometimes it was just a simple as a windows update, and a fresh restart. You problem may be more complicated than that, but I would say trying to run your comp without virus protection software to see if it's that especially if you are running multiple kinds of virus protection.

I have an lenovo y50 with a terrible wd black sshd but only at the sartup it runs 100 procent for 2 minutes due to avast and system services. And I do still have problems with de VSS service. The idle maintaince was also using around the 100 procent disk usage.
