I highly recommend building your own, if you are worried about assembly I understand, you are going to get a bunch of people saying OMFG BUILD IT YOURSELF ITS LIKE LEGO but I get your apprehension to do so the 1st time with such costly equipment, im not sure where you are located but you almost positively have a reputable shop around where you can list our your parts and they will build it and test it for you for...$50 give or take. you will get a better system in the end for a cheaper cost and you know exactly whats going into it, and if you are apprehensive about even picking out parts there are plenty of people here who can help you.

System Specs

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x | Mobo: Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX | RAM: Hyper X Fury 3600 64gb | GPU: Nvidia FE 4090 | Storage: WD Blk SN750 NVMe - 1tb, Samsung 860 Evo - 1tb, WD Blk - 6tb/5tb, WD Red - 10tb | PSU:Corsair ax860 | Cooling: AMD Wraith Stealth  Displays: 55" Samsung 4k Q80R, 24" BenQ XL2420TE/XL2411Z & Asus VG248QE | Kb: K70 RGB Blue | Mouse: Logitech G903 | Case: Fractal Torrent RGB | Extra: HTC Vive, Fanatec CSR/Shifters/CSR Elite Pedals w/ Rennsport stand, Thustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Track IR5,, ARCTIC Z3 Pro Triple Monitor Arm | OS: Win 10 Pro 64 bit

Because I dont want to spend a ton of money on parts that may or may not work, and if something goes wrong and I can't troubleshoot it, I would have just wasted money.

Fun fact, most prebuilds don't get checked if they are working. They just see if all the components work/spin for 5 secs then they pack it off for the shelfs.

Here in Toronto I use NCIX. what I do is I go in. and I tell them I want a system with these parts (and bring them whatever I already have) they will then take the products off their shelf and build it right there and test it, for days to make sure its stable, if any parts are screwed they will deal with it right then and there. I recommend looking/doing some research for a shop around you that offers a similar service.

There's a guy up my local market that builds PC's for $31. Theres also a PC shop that builds for $61. Should I do that?

id personally try and find a chain store then just "a guy" simply because a franchise store is going to be less likely to screw you I feel...there are a ton of random ass computer shops around me but I wouldn't go in one personally. Its why I specifically go to NCIX. I even have a record of all the testing the did on the machine and seen it running benchmarks up to the very second I picked it up. But at the end of the day I dont know what you have available to you or what chain stores are even in your area.

based on what you said I would be willing to trust the shop that charges $61 more then the local market guy. But your best bet is to ask computer enthusiasts in your area where they would go, either people you actually know or a local forum.

Why not?

Because they don't seem reputable enough. Do you have any of their website so I can take a look?
