CPU for video editing

Go to solution Solved by AdamH96,

Either Cyberlink, or Adobe Premier, not sure which is better still doing research on them

A 4790K would do you just fine.

So me and a group of friends are going to be opening and running a gaming news site, and plan to make youtube videos for it, of which I will be the main Video editor for the group.

I am either going to get a 4790k or a 5820k

I am sure overall the 5820k is better, but if I upgrade to that platform, I am going to need a new motherboard, ram, and everything, totalling out to around a 550 buck upgrade, where a 4790k I could literally just plug into my board, for only 340 bucks in comparison, is it worth it? also I am curious how long the LGA 2011 socket will be supported if you guys think there will be a lot more cpus coming out for it, it may be worth to get that just so I have the board and shit already

((also note, I know I have a good cpu in the 4670k, but I am putting that in my little brothers new computer I am building him so it is not a factor in this instance))

My PC:

Case: Corsair C70, Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45, CPU: I5-4670k, RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance, GPU: Gigabyte 970 G1 Gaming , PSU: Corsair RM650W Gold, Storage: 250 GB Samsung EVO SSD, 240 GB Kingston SSDNOW

A 4670K that you have should work fine there is no need for anything better unless you need lightning speeds, for a side thing you don't need it, so don't drop the money on it.

Also with the GPU you have it makes no sense to upgrade without upgrading that too.

I haven't updated that in a while, and I said in my original post, I am getting rid of the 4670k either way, giving it to my little brother, and also I have a GTX 970 currently
