PC Upgrade, need advice

I'd like to upgrade my PC on July and I am not sure about two things

this is my build

 

Asrock Z87 Extreme4

i7 4770K 3.5

Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1866

EVGA SC GTX 770 2GB

PSU Corsair GS800

SSD 120GB Kingston

2TB HDD

I play on 1920x1080

 

So, I am unsure between a new graphics card (a 970) or a.. liquid cooler since I am still with the stock cooler from Intel (pls don't kill me)

The thing is that a new 970 costs about €350 (399.11$) and a liquid cooler (i was looking at the h100i) costs € 100 (114$). So I don't know if it'd be better waiting for some other time to get the card and get the cooler now or if I don't really need to get a new cooler and to get an upgrade in gaming I should just get a 970 (best I can do is 970, I wish I could afford a better one D:)

I would use the new 970 to play Witcher 3 at max settings and hopefully I wouldn't get stutters anymore in Skyrim due to the VRAM of my 770 being pushed to the limit (I use lots of texture packs) and I would use the cooler to OC my i7 and it's also cool to look at ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'm just a gamer, I don't do any rendering or similar things. I hope you can give me some advice

I would get a 970 and a hyper 212 evo, can't go wrong with both of them

You could look at a cheaper air cooler like the hyper 212 which is cheap ~$25.  It will have quite an improvement over your stock cooler and you get a 970.

I wouldn't expect too much of a performance gain in gaming from overclocking your CPU - it may well not be worth doing at all in your case. However, if it is something you plan on doing anyway, I'd recommend picking up a cooler now. CPU coolers don't advance very quickly: a decent cooler today will still be decent in four or five years time. On the GPU side, you might want to check out the 390x which is launching right now. It's a little more expensive than the 970, but offers 980-like performance, and with 8GB of VRAM I doubt you'll run out any time soon.

I'm running a 970 and a stock intel cooler and OC'ing around 4.1-4.2 on a 4690K, and my temps are around 40-60 C

Thank you guys for your replies! You made a great point. I'm going to buy a good cheap air cooler so that I can consider buying the 970 too. I have two other questions though

1. While looking on Amazon, I found a Noctua NH-U9B SE2 which is not as cheap as the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, but I want to know if it is any good?

2. When I install the cooler, should I place it vertically or horizontally?
