Can you connect an AMD laptop to a g-sync monitor ? (and use without g-sync)

whitedragon101

I am looking to buy the new g-sync Asus 4K IPS monitor when it comes out and match it with a 980ti gaming PC.

However, the monitors main use during the day will be to connect to a 15" Macbook Pro for work. (The new 15" supports 4K monitors).  I change laptop every year but at the moment it has an AMD gpu.  Will the monitor revert to being a normal 60hz panel or will it not work at all because of the g-sync module?

Yes, you can use it like a regular monitor. The only difference is you won't be able to enable G-SYNC mode, that's all.

Cool, thanks :)
