Help with SSD problems after switching PSU

Go to solution Solved by Stefan1024,

Are critical data on the dirve? If not just whipe the drive and reinstall the OS. As long the drive gets detected, it should work fine.

Hey guys!

My boyfriend is currently swapping out his old PSU with his new one. He used to have a Corsair 750M, but he just got an EVGA 850W G2. He hooked up everything correctly, and he is having problems loading up Windows through his SSD. He said he has tried it in ide, ahci and with just the SSD plugged in. It recognizes it in the BiOS, but it won't load into Windows. PLEASE help if you have any idea of what this could be or how to solve it.

Thanks in advance!

The MoBo may have resetted the BIOS after powering up xx times without booting.

No, he doesn't have any critical data, just Windows and some other random files. He's going to go ahead and do what you suggested; he wanted to make sure that he was taking the right steps to solve it. I will let you know if it works out! Thanks for your help.

Normaly it will take the only aviable drive to boot off, but if he had plugged in an USB stick for whatever reason it could also switch to the USB stick.

And I design my system in a way I don't have to use fans. The sentence is only there to show my addiction of noiseless PCs.

The SSD is a SATA.

Then you must have it as ACHI and you will need to rearrange the boot order of your drives. Put the SSD in 1st place in the BIOS.

I guess now i have to ask what is the motherboard?

Stupid question....he does have the data and the PSU's SATA power connectors properly plugged into the SSD and the correct SATA terminal right?

It has been solved, thanks anyway. All he had to do was wipe out the SSD and reinstall the OS like @Stefan1024 said.
