I've been waiting on this monitor for a while.... https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-083-AS&tool=3

It's finally arrived in stock after the Asus recall.

Is there any point in buying this 144Hz monitor when Freesync will only run between 35 and 90Hz?

Isn't it like buying a Car that can do 144mph, but the tyres will only allow you to go do 90mph.

Immagine freesync like a standart, you shouldn't be choosing a monitor for it, but it's there.

Immagine choosing the city where you live depending on public transport, it"s going to get better over time, but right now it's meh.

I'm going to be getting the asus monitor, ordering it when I have the money. Freesync is a bonus (for me at least) and what matters is 144hz 1440p IPS 4ms 27'.

If you don't need the IPS and want freesync for the entire window of refreshes, get the acer TN panel one.

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

Don't use comparisons like that. They don't make any sense.

What this is, is a monitor that has a potential 144hz refresh rate but Freesync will only run at 35 to 90, so no it's not like your tire comparison.

Like I tell everyone about Freesync and sometimes even G-Sync: you need to wait until the tech matures if you're not a typical early adopter because you'll be disappointed with what you get right now.

I can't see the point of this either... Unless your games run at 144FPS+ then vsync just does the same thing. How about the Benq XL2730Z?

There might be games you'd be able to run over 100fps consistently, CSGO and such. In that case, you want freesync off and vsync on. New AAA games on high settings will drop frames from 70+ to 40 are why you want freesync

PC: Intel 10700K, Asus Z490-E Strix, G.Skill Trident Z @ 3200mhz C14, Thermaltake View 71, Custom Water Cooling (EKWB Quantum, 2x 360mm SR1 Radiators, 6 Noctua NF-A12), EVGA GTX1080 ti HydroCopper, Intel 6651TB, Intel 600p 480GB, Windows 10 Pro

So you're saying that ...

1) Freesync on this monitor will get better over time with each software update from AMD?

2) The 90Hz ceiling is likely to increase?

Edit : I hope the answer to the above questions are yes as I've just went and ordered it. It should arrive tomorrow.

ASUS has demonstrated the software of the monitor cannot be updated in the dield, so it's unlikely they'll make any software updates for it, and if they do yoi'll have to send it back to ASUS to get the update performed.

And it's still a good monitor even if FreeSync only goes up to 90Hz.
