Hey guys, so i had my eye on the r9 290. I know this card OC's well. I can get Sapphires Tri-X for $393 posted. Is this a good deal, and do you think this card will still be 'relevant' and better than my 770 2gb? Should i wait for the 300 series to be released? Is it possible prices will go down?
EDIT: I DON'T WANT TO HEAR GTX 970 AT ALL, AS THEY ARE CLOSE TO $500 AUD!

I would not bother to upgrade to a 290. The 770 is a very good card. Also the new line up from AMD will soon come.

Not the reference cooled 770, much rather 2x 4gb 760's in SLI, as all the games i play can SLI.

It will be noticeably better than the 770 but you have to ask yourself is it really worth upgrading so soon? Is turning up the graphics from high to ultra that important?

Buy it only if you are not happy with the 770. It's important to focus on enjoying the games. If you become a benchmark junkie you will always look at numbers and never be satisfied and you will become obsessed with maxing out settings.

Wait a little and see if the price drops, maybe the lease of the 3xx series will bring the 290x down to the price of the 290

I get you. It is for the game, it lags in GTA 5, which i love, and i think it's that old 2gb frame buffer.
