My system:

i3 4360

Gigabyte B85M-DS3H

8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM

ASUS HD 7770 GHz

Windows 7

Whenever I view any pictures within the Windows Photo Gallery program I get artifacting of the images. I don't get this when viewing photos in Media Center or in any other apps and if I make the artifacted image my wallpaper it is perfectly OK with no issues to speak of.

This GPU has been OC'd some but not with any adjustments to voltage, just clock speed and memory speed.

This problem occurs on both my older Dell IPS monitor and on my newer ASUS TN panel. The images do not artifact if shipped to my laptop which has Windows 8.1 and no discrete GPU, just onboard graphics.

I have no tried to view these images with onboard graphics. I will do this and report back. If it does solve my problem could I possibly have a sketchy GPU?

Thanks.

EDIT: Just did this on onboard graphics and the problem does not occur. Also, the 7770 is running at stock clocks everywhere.

The Radeon=issue then.  xD

Well, AMD is for poor people jokes aside...

Is this something I should be overly concerned about?

Yes and no.  Try uninstalling then reisntalling CCC.  If that doesn't work then your card is probably biting the dust.

Doing so right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if it started to die by now though tbh.

Yeah, k, still happens on the 7770.

Anything else I should know about. Other signs the GPU is dying? How I could have caused this?

Sometimes it just happens when they age, but if there was ever an OC that can make it happen to.  It can also happen though if you are holding any OC still, so if you are drop down to full stock.

It's been at stock since I saw this happening.

Why does it not occur with other applications?

Probably sw to hw utilization being different with that app.  So, maybe the card is fine in other areas just not that one.

Should I be concerned? Sorry, I've had bad luck with ASUS AMD GPUs and just am frustrated that another one might have issues.

Hard to say when only 1 program is being hit with artificating.  There's still a possibility of it dying.

OK, well, I'll leave the topic open for now if anybody else has answers. Thank you for helping me out!

Downclock the core and memory, use afterburner to set the power limit to -5%

Then tell me what happens

Can't change the power/voltage as my motherboard doesn't allow for it. It's been at stock since I saw this problem and can only be solved by going onto onboard graphics.

You can't downclock your gpu using Afterburner ? I mean downclock lower than stock

OH OK. Sorry, thought you meant adjust voltage lower than stock. I'm not at home but I'll be there at around 4-4:30 ish (it's currently 11:03 AM) so I'll report back when I get there.

You can actually lower the voltage lower than stock, at least i can on my 290, there is a setting in afterburner

My motherboard locks voltage. Can't adjust it in Afterburner.

Use GPU Tweak. When I had my HD 7770 and was overclocking, I used gpu tweak for voltage, don't remember if power limit was unlocked, and then just used afterburner for clockspeeds as I didn't like gpu tweak at all.

Put it at lower than stock clocks (half everything to be exact) and nothing was solved. I cannot adjust voltage through any software. Problem does not occur on Intel graphics. Only happens in the Windows Photo viewer.
