My Fractal Design Core 1000 USB3.0 case came with a Silent Series R2 120mm front fan. I connected it to the SYSFAN1 connector on my MSI H81M Eco motherboard. The motherboard connector is 4 pin, and the fan connector is 3 pin.The motherboard's BIOS and chipset are updated to the latest version.

The fan does not spin up at all. Please advise.

BIOS says that SYSFAN1 is disconnected. But I am looking at the fan connector now, and it is connected to SYSFAN1. I'm not sure how much pressure to apply but it seems to be seated properly.

try another fan header, if it does work it probably dead. You see any greese or can you push the fan into the motor.

Huh, I didn't realize there was a SYSFAN2 connector on the motherboard. Tried that and the fan is working. Dunno why that made a difference, but thanks.
