Random graphics driver crashing

My graphics drivers have crashing periodically for a while now. I have an evga gtx 460. What happens is both of my screens go black for a few second (sound continues). Then my monitors signify that no input is selected. When the screens come back on there is a notification that graphics drivers have stopped and and recovered however certain things will still not be working. i.e. a youtube video will be black etc. Oddly enough these crashes never happen while I am in a game, only while i am browsing the web. Any suggestions? is it a software issue or is it a hardware issue on my graphics card?

Did you try to update your graphics drivers?

Yes i have to most up to date drivers, but the issue was happening with the previous version of the driver as well.

I had this exact problem back with my GTX 260 when I was running beta drivers, so if you're running Beta drivers try downgrading to a stable version

On nvidias website :) as #4 said try downgrading till you find a stable version.

Try the original CD Drivers to see if is stable.

If not, probably your graphics card is almost dying, you have the same starting issues that i had with my old 8800GTS that i used to bake a few times.

Ill try some of the old drivers from nvidia, really hope it its the drivers and not the card because i don't want this card to die just yet. Oh well I'll keep fingers crossed

The latest Nvidia WHQL drivers are 310.70. I have another question did you overclock your 460? Cause I had the same problem with my 670 when i overclocked it too much. Besides that it could be the card starting to die. How old is your 460 and is your warranty still valid?

Here is a link on how to properly remove the nvidia drivers from your computer try removing the re installing the latest drivers

That error can sometimes occur even when its not your GPU's fault. It can occur when you have faulty ram, so if you got two or more sticks you should try them out in your DDRx_1 slot one by one and see if the error occurs.

Use DDU to remove the graphics driver, and then reinstall it again from NVIDIA's website
