Because the one you picked might have problems with haswell refresh without bios update.

PSU is sketchy and for the same money as the 960 you can get a 280x or 290 for a bit more which I will both beat it

Check that the board supports USB flashing of the bios because haswell refresh

it's far from sketchy, it's good for that price.

How about you drop to a i5 4460 (still a very good processor) and get a r9 290 (a much better graphic card).

My options. Drop down to a I3 4150, upgrade the PSU to a 600W, and buy a used R9 290(x).

I have it lying around and I wouldn't want to waste money buying another when I can use this.

Yes that board will work fine without a bios update.
