I want to build this Corsair and Asus duo. I want to have overclocking and expandability in mind. Expandability to support up to 64gb of RAM, 3x980ti's and Storage Expansions.

the end result will be for 3 monitors. 1080p gaming. I might get a 1440p monitor in the middle or up above for movies. but yeah.

I'm going to be playing LOTS of minecraft... I'm kidding. ... sort of... ;)

thoughts? opinions? think this 6 core can keep up with 3 x 980ti's? I have my doubts.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HnrDdCOverclock the 5820k to 4.0 Ghz and it should be good. You won't find yourself needing more then 2 980Tis because anything more can be unstable and two is plenty for 60fps 4k gaming oreven smoother gameplay at 1440p.

its probably fine but when you wrote 6-core and i hadent looked at the link i thought you were putting a FX-6300 in it xD

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Think this 6 core can keep up with 3 980 Ti's?"

Yeah, 28 Lane CPU will do fine. Just know you can't add a 4th card.

Honestly, 64GB for ram is quite expensive for DDR4 right now. I don't even use all 16 GB I have, so I wouldn't worry. X99 supports 128GB of RAM anyways.

3 Cards is a bit overkill for triple monitors. I would just go with 2 980 Ti's

The X99 support Quad Channel memory, so is best to have 4 sticks. So, change the 2x8 GB kit for 4x4 GB one. Should cost about the same. Also, you cannot sli 3 GPUs with this MoBo with a i7 5820k because the last PCle Lane 3.0 wil be x4 (Sli need a least x8). The lanes on the Sabertooth are divided by x16/x8/x4. To confirm this, search for some reviews on the google. If I not mistaken, Hardware Canucks have one.
