980ti SLI with OLD 1250 watt Power Supply.

IceCold007

Im just wondering if my old Enermax Revolution 85+ 1250w SLI will be good enough for 2 980ti in SLI.

The reason I ask is because ive had the power supply for 4 years now and its still running ok. I currently have two 670 in SLI and will be upgrading. I also have 4 hard drives and 1 ssd atm. Which all take up power.

I know that the 980ti consumes about the same power requirements as a Titan X. I just a little worried if I buy 2 980ti in SLI. My system will not hold up like my old 670 SLI.

Should be fine, you won't stress it much anyways, maybe 650w-750watts max.

PSU is probably the most future-proof component on a computer. Having molex or 2x8-pin and 2x6-pin

And it only have a 250w TDP each.

That will work! That PSU has a bunch of 12V rails with 30amps each. So as long as the PSU splits the Gpus on two different 12v rails, you are good to go.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

It should do fine, just check if the voltage is stable under load (doesn't fall beneath 11.85v on 12v rail) and that's it. Most likely it is fine. I've had mine for 6 years now, I changed all the capacitors last year, rebuilt it and it works better than new, voltage is even better than new. :)

There is no reason at all to replace it, if it is working fine.

How do I measure my 12v rail on my PSU. Never checked before. Is there any program which can help me. I have HW Monitor and under my Motherboard name for -12v its at -7.104 v. Is that bad? . Someone said it should not go under 11.85v under load. Am I checking the right part of my PSU?.

The only accurate way is with a multimeter. Software such as HW Monitor isn't very accurate.

Ive just gone into my bios and on my system info for my power. Under +12v is reads 12.312v that's at idle not under load. So is there a way to check under load for example. Play a game for an hour and check.

Software voltage readings are never accurate. Only way to know for sure is to use a multimeter. However reviewers with professional equipment have tested it, and don't worry, it's a solid PSU.
