Over

I want to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 Preview. But I want to know if when the preview period ends, will windows updates update to that version or will I have to do a fresh windows install?

As far as I know it will just be an update. Just like a service pack update on previous versions of Windows. So you won't need to fresh install Windows.

Only thing MS has mentioned regarding this is "when you install subsequent editions of Windows 8.1 you'll be able to keep your personal files, but you'll need to reinstall your apps".

Thanks.

Another doubt:

My Windows 8 is in portuguese-PT, but the 8.1 is only available in portuguese-BR. If I decide to install it, or the english version, will I be able to change the language when it becomes available with the final release, without having to reinstall the OS again?

You'll have to ask that one of Microsoft...

When Windows 8.1 will be officially released you'll need to do a clean install. However, you can tell Windows 8.1 official release setup to KEEP your personal files. In other words, it will delete Windows, but not touch your personal files. Although, I still recommend to back them up, because you never know. Bad luck happens in life, you have to be prepared to avoid them (ie: lose power during the install process, made you lose some or all your files)

The Preview (Beta) version of Windows 8.1 expires January 15, 2014. As always Microsoft gives you plenty of time for you to re-install your system to 8.1 official.
