Then I'll probably go for the first one. But do you think those are a good pair of jika tabiI?

I don't know about that particular pair, but I guess the differences between manufacturers is minimal, if even existent.

You wear jika tabi as everyday shoes too? I have used them as well for well over a year now. Already been through my first pair that was bought second-handed, they got large holes in both big toes after over half a year of use, bought a new pair, still as satisfied with those shoes as ever. By far my favorite shoes as of now.

As for your decision of getting a cheap katana... Eeh... Cheap ones' quality is what you pay for: not really reliable. If you are getting it to use both as a decoration and for maybe cutting something, then listen to other's recommendations here. But I'd suggest that you check the laws in your area if owning such weapons is allowed. And you can get in legal trouble for carrying one in public. I highly recommend checking these things out before purchasing.

yeah, no one in their right mind would look for a genuine katana in the hopes of using it as a sword. You want a bladed weapon, you get a sword made of good steel, if it looks like a katana, that's totally fine. Katanas were valued for the amount of work that went into them, their effectiveness as weapons is vastly exaggerated by Hollywood. I'd rather use a bokken.

^This. Katanas weren't particularly durable (hitting something metal, like chainmail, or another blade, could easily bend or even shatter the blade. The iron quality they had available for traditionally made ones was that bad), most of it's appeal comes from fictional works where everything is exaggerated because of rule of cool.

That said, for the same price, a hardwood bokken would be a lot more durable, and last longer, as odd as it may sound like. Plus it would be less threatening to people around you, lessening the possibilities of you getting into legal trouble if shown in public (I'd still suggest you to keep it in your home, or places where you have permission to have it visible, though).

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.
