SystemBuilder Windows 8.1
~
Item I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Windows-8-1-System-Builder-64-Bit...
I bought a copy of Windows 8.1 System Builder OEM from Amazon.com
I received it today, and looked up some OEM license information to find these links:
http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/P...
http://www.howtogeek.com/197232/microsoft-is-misleading...
Basically, these links say that I am not allowed to use this copy of Windows for personal use, and it's only for preinstallation on a machine for resale. I read reviews on the product before buying it, and most were talking about opinions on Windows 8.1, and the 1 star reviews just talked about how complicated it was. I failed to read the product description because I wasn't aware of Microsoft changing their Licensing.
Should I be worried, or does this version of windows still work fine?
Note: I did copy and paste this from one of my posts on another forum. Just wanted an answer as soon as possible.
Don't worry, it will work fine. MS won't care if you use an OEM licence on your own PC. Just be warned that it is licenced to your motherboard and may only be transferred if you replace your motherboard due to a defect with the exact same model. That is, according to the EULA.
