HX650 Enough?

Torand

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty sure I re-planned this, thus why I got this PSU when I started my build, but I can't remember.

So, thanks to my sieve of a brain, I ask the following;

Could I add another Asus nVidia GTX 660ti DCII OC TOP to my rig and still have enough 'juice'?

Current power drinking things in my build; 3570k @4.4GHz, 2 WD Greens and one of the above 660ti. [see sig. for more]

Would 650 watts suffice for 2 660ti's in SLI?

Thanks guys. :)

You could do it.  It'd be close.

If you want to be 110% safe, upgrade to a 750W.

You'd be fine. In a Newegg video benching 3 way SLI GTX 660ti's they used a 750W Power supply. Therefore your 650W Power Supply will be fine.

CPU: 5930K @ 4.5GHz | GPU: Zotac GTX 980Ti AMP! Extreme edition @ 1503MHz/7400MHz | RAM: 16GB Corsair Dom Plat @ 2667MHz CAS 13 | Motherboard: Asus X99 Sabertooth | Boot Drive: 400GB Intel 750 Series NVMe SSD | PSU: Corsair HX1000i | Monitor: Dell U2713HM 1440p monitor

Hmm, it may just be easier to upgrade to a single higher end card.

The only reason i'm tempted at the moment is that my gpu is currently going cheap now on Scan, just under £200 and knowing how they scale, i was really tempted.

Thanks anyway! :)

The wattage is fine

(650W)

But I have the hx650 and I noticed that it only comes with connectors for dual 8 pin and not quad 6 pin. Although they are the same power you would have to make an adapter to support them.

  • 2 months later...

Unfortunately, the HX650W is a PSU that can't support multiple graphics cards (unless you have some form of zombified connector) due to there only being two 8-pin connectors on the PSU itself.

Current gaming rig: i5 3570k, Asus P8Z77-V, Asus GeForce GTX 660Ti, Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2x4gb) 1600MHz (blue), Corsair AX760i, Corsair Graphite 600T, Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo, NZXT Hue, NZXT Sentry Mesh, WD Caviar Black 1TB.

Current gaming laptop: Scan 3XS Graphite LG175, i7 4700QM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M, Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2x4gb) 1600MHZ, Samsung 840 Pro 128gb, WD Scorpio Black 500gb.

yes its enough, a pc like yours + another 660Ti use under 500W in load.
