If you the one who usually download junk/movies/game/software in your PC and know you will deleted it later or sometime keep it !

Long story short your disk will get fragmented overtime and slow your system down

Well you just Defrag it ! but it take time for those large hard drive to get done and decrease those hard drive Ages/high up disk Failure rate! (overtime)

My solution is having a cheap Buffer drive from ~64gb - ~128gb you download your stuff and decide to keep it(paste it into your mass storage) or not (Shift+delete)!

What do you think about this /do you have better solution or just not worth it for you?

do you think the name "buffer hdd" fit this solution?

Anyway Thanks for reading! :)

I do have a HDD for this purpose, it serves me well. Just get a shitty old HDD, speed doesn't matter, its not like your internet is faster. Mine is 320gb and i named it Downloads, how original.

Specs: AMD FX 6300 @ 4ghz, Asus R9 270 OC, 8gb Corsair xms3, Cooler Master GX 550w PSU, WD 500 blue, Gigabyte  GA-970A-DS3

my computers all have SSD boot drives, so only large files are ever written to the mechanical drives. as a result, one of my machines after 6 months without any defragmentation was at 1% fragmentation, and this is the machine that has all of the downloads redirected to it, serves as the HTPC, home file server etc and has live TV being cached for hours out of the day. reading files from across the network still completely saturates my gigabit network, with file transfers from the HDD (a 3TB HGST NAS drive) to my laptop's ssd running at 120MBps

Get a decently sized usb flash drive.  They fit in your pocket, and have speeds that are faster than hard drives.
