Computer shut down :/

Hello everyone, I really need some help with my PC. I built it roughly a year and a half ago and last week I started to get a problem. Basically what's happening is when it gets a spike in usage it fails. When it fails I have to remove all power from the PC to get it to turn back on such as pulling the power cable or flipping the switch on the power supply. At first it only started when I would boot up a game(Steam and others). Now it will shut down whenever I do anything that requires a little bit of power(like a non-graphically intensive kongregate game). I have managed to view the event viewer but the only thing it tells me is that it experience an unexpected shut down. I've tried reinstalling the graphics cards drivers and re-seating them. I've also tried to refresh the OS but now I can't get it to finish the refreshing process. I also don't know why this problem is occurring the only Windows update I did about a week ago was some windows defender nonsense. I'll post my spec's below... I think it's a hardware problem I just don't know where or how to start. Thank you for any help!

MOBO: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

CPU: AMD FX8350

GPU: Sapphire Vapor-X 7970 Ghz Edition in Crossfire

SSD: Samsung 840 Evo

HDD: 2 WD Caviar Black 1TB in RAID 0

Power Supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000w Platinum certified

OS: Windows 8.1(fully updated)

Good question but i had an 8350 and this sounds like the poor thing just cant take the heat...

Temp's was the first thing I thought of too! Sorry I should have left that information in the topic. The CPU sit's around 36 degree's Celsius and the Graphics cards around 45-50 degree's Celsius. Both of which are nowhere near the thresh hold.

Stress your CPU with Prime 95.

Gah I wen't through all that and didn't list the cooler! Hyper 212 Evo, sorry I'm really stressed out. Getting married in 8 days and my $2,000 PC isn't working :'(

I have Prime 95 installed, however I don't know if I can keep the computer on long enough for it to finish it's refresh and let me test that. If you have any other idea's while I work on that they would be greatly appreciated.

Stress your CPU with Prime 95.

Just ran Prime 95 and it passed on all 8 cores. Max temp on CPU Socket was 55C, CPU Max was 42C and Graphics cards never got over 54C

Left for Dead 2(Steam), Heroes of the Storm(Blizzard Launcher), Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2(Steam), Swarm Simulator(Kongregate), Bush Wacker 2(Kongregate), DarkOrbit Reloaded(Armor Games).

I had something similar happen to me. Sometimes when I gamed on my pc it would crash and I had to remove the power to get it working again. My problem was that my PSU was dying. After a few days it stopped working completely. I suggest buying a new PSU

Sounds like something is shorting out. Is the PC grounded correctly? Try to dismantle the PC and run it sitting on top of a cardboard box and see if the issue still occurs, if not then we know its a grounding issue and you can attempt to put back in PC case and try again. If not then it'll be something else.. like failing hardware.
