Well I've actually never played half life. I play a lot of shooters though. And Portal wasn't a shooter, but it was. Kinda. And I liked the puzzle factor for sure. 

 

You should play Black Mesa. Its a nice re-finish to the HL series.

...I don't agree that HL1/2 are the greatest games ever, maybe in the top 50. I do like the story but the gameplay was absolute shit, so much that the story was almost not worth finishing for me. There were some incredible moments and the world depicted was captivating, but the majority of the game (all of the combat instances and some puzzles) feels as disgusting a grind as the campaign of Battlefield 4. The difference to me was that the overall story in HL2 was just barely worth putting up with the rest of the gameplay while Battlefield 4's campaign story (unlike its gameplay) was so bad that it wasn't worth finishing just to unlock a few guns in multiplayer.

If Valve are at E3 its to push Steam Box, not to announce a game.

Valve don't make games anymore, why would they when they can make skins and hats and still make millions.

That said, I do hope this is true.

Well I don't think you will see a difference visually unless it's a new game built in source 2 from the ground up. Maybe things will just get better in terms of performance, stability and mod tools.

If this happens every data centre on the planet will get at least one crashed server and the internet will literally explode.

Revising my earlier post, it actually seems quite likely to me, we all know S2 is finished and DOTA will be getting moved onto it, why wouldn't Valve move L4D & CS over to it. One fishy thing though, wheres TF?

Valve Might be there, showing off their new Steamlink + Controller but thats about it i think, i doubt there will be a e3 2003 type demo for the new engine
