Hey,

I am looking at buying a nvidia shield or nvidia shield pro and was wondering what would be the best NAS to go along with something like that? I have been running media centre on my xbox for years from my pc and was thinking the nvidia shield might be a good upgrade. I already have 2 x 4TB WD Red drives and just want to know what might be a nice NAS to run in Raid 0, I see most have little pc's in them to run xbmc and things like that but I think I would prefer to run one through the nvidia shield.

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense but if it does I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks Matt

You need to post more about what you ultimately want to achieve, what you would like it to be able to do, budget, pre-built or DIY?

Also, why would you do RAID 0 in a NAS?

Hey AussieMatt,

I could suggest checking out some pre-built NASs from WD that would be good for what you need them for:

You can check which ones you can order empty and use those WD Red drives in there. Each of these have pretty useful features that you can find good for the new device that you are getting. :)

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^

Thanks for the replies gents, the NAS will be built for the purpose of storing my shows and movies, these are not vital information and if I lose this information (RAID 0 with a drive failing) its not the end of the world, will just be nice to have a large space the nvidia shield can access aswell as tablets on the wifi network, currently my wife uses ES Explorer to access shared files on the network, is there anything similar for iOS or is there something a NAS has built in that can be used for that kind of purpose on iOS?

Will check out those NAS's now Captain_WD

Thanks

So you basically want to run Plex to stream content?

Also sure it may not be vital information, but I can see no benefit to doing it, you won't see any speed improvement since you will be bottle necked by your network anyways with a good RAID5/6/Z1/Z2 setup anyways. So why not save yourself the hassle if it does go wrong.
