What resolution?

Having moved from my PS3 to a relatively mid-end gaming PC (was originally FX-6300 and GTX 960), I thought 1080p was the best thing since sliced bread. I don't think anyone can argue that 1080p, compared to consoles at least, is pretty damn awesome.

I recently moved from 1080p to a 1440p display (BenQ GW2765HT, which is a gorgeous display, by the way), driving it is an i5-4690K and a GTX 970, both at stock clock, and it runs 1440p like a dream.

I personally love 1440p now, I think it looks awesome and is a noticeable increase over 1080p. I don't really feel the need to use AA now.

However, a lot of people argue that 1440p isn't really worth the upgrade. I disagree, and I think 1440p will be the spiritual successor to 1080p, due to 4K being notoriously hard to drive in modern AAA titles without really high end hardware. Not to mention that 4K also isn't available at 144Hz (yet).

What do you guys think?

People say 1440p isn't worth it, because it isn't worth it objectively. It probebly looks great, yeah. But everything is now 1080p (tv's, youtube...), and now TV's and youtube etc are turning to 4K. Normal society skipped 1440, which means that it's only good for gaming.
