I'm trying to do a clean install of windows 8 on a family member's Dell inspiron. I complete the windows 8 installation without problems untill I see "gettings devices ready", at around 76-80% through - It cuts to a blue screen with the error message "driver_power_state_failure". I can't find anyone having the same issue while doing a clean install, most people get this error message upgrading from windows 7.

I've tried many things, but I don't want to risk ruling anything out, so if you guys have any idea of what I should try I would very much appriecate it.

Im willing to bet you have one of these new fangled CPUs that support a low sleep state, but you have a pretty shitty motherboard or something.  Make sure your BIOS/UEFI is set to a nice DEFAULT setting or something of that nature.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!
