Personal storage

I have been wanting to set up a personal server for a while for backup and important storage. I have looked at storage solutions like drobo however they are expensive. I want to hook three computers to a personal storage unit and I want to hear what anyone has to say. Please include links and reviews if you have a personal storage solution. Thank you.

Well, I use a Norco RPC-4224 loaded with 4TB drives, but I don't think that's what you are after. 

 

Depending on how much storage you need, something like a Netgear ReadyNAS might suite your need. But it all depends on what you consider exspensive.
