Hello, so I've had this issue for a very long while that my graphics card gets messed up graphics after using them for a little while. Lot's of z fighting, aliasing problems and just everything not working properly. I've found some information claiming this issue to be related to instable voltages which mess up your components. I want to see whether it's true but I have no idea where I would start. Does anybody here have any knowledge over how I could stabilise the voltages on my PC?

Your PSU should stabelise the voltage for your computer.

You can check via a monitoring software (e.g. HWiNFO) if you have  problems with you voltage.

 

Just open it with 'sensors only' go to the settings and set the 'scan interval' to 100ms.

Now look at the voltage readings and check if they are in the ATX specification: (most important are +3.3V +5V and +12V)

Check if the ripples are somewhere in tolerance. The programm shows you the min and max value in a seperate column.

This isn't the most accurate reading like you'd get with an oscilloscope, but should give you a rough idea if you have a problem with your voltages.

Where do I read the -5 and -12? And where's the difference between 5dc and 5sb? Does this look good anyway?

 

What I'm most worried about are the voltages to the GPU which I can't check right now as it is currently somewhere in the RMA department of EVGA.

 

The theory of my GPU graphics issues coming from certain voltage issues still sounds real to me though. I'll try to order one of those AVR's and see how it works out. I'm really desperate right now because any GPU that touches the power sockets in my house ends up broken in one way or another and I'd be really happy to have found a solution.

The PCI power connector only uses +12V and that should be the same as the reading you get from the Mainboard.

Negative voltages aren't really used anymore in modern systems, thats more of a backward compatibility thing for very old systems.

SB voltages are for standby.

With that values i wouldn't think that ist a problem with stability, as long as they don't change while under load.

But you might have surges in your power line. Do you use any fairly big electric motors in your house or like a shitton of refrigerators?

Do you experience problems with other electronic devices in your household?

We have one fridge, dishwasher and a washing machine. Other than that we have 4 computers on at all times, one tv and usually phones/tablets being charged. Not much more than that.

 

We do get issues with our fridge and washer sometimes not functioning for a reason, replugging seems to fix it. The gaphics issue I described is on all PC's in our house.
