How to setup my MIC on a ASUS G10AJ?

I have an ASUS G10AJ and a TurtleBeach headset i thought all i would have to do is plug in the Green to the Headset and the Pink to the Mic and it would work. I could hear everything but the Mic doesnt work. I have also tried using my Apple Headphones but still nothing. I also tried hooking directly to my BenQ XL2730Z to but still i cant hear or speak on it.
