Finalizing my PC build

What motherboard should I get then?

Frankly, whatever you prefer the look of, however neither of these boards support SLI (multiple nVidia GPUs), for that you'd need to fork out a bit more, for something like the MSI Z97-G45. However if you aren't considering multiple GPUs pick whichever colour you prefer (blue will look better with the current ram though)

Hello, so I'm a high-school student and as I have had a laptop as my main PC for over a year now, I decided it's time for a new computer.

My main aim is gaming 1080p on some games like GTA V, CS:GO (nothing hardcore like Crysis 3) and the occasional video edit, and I sometimes print things from school 3D printer (nothing serious, using Google SketchUp).

I'm located in Latvia and my budget is about 900€.

Build:

  • Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC Mate or MSI Z97-G43
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K (stock cooler for now, later upgrading to Hyper 212 Evo)
  • RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Blue CL10 8 GB stick @ 1866 MHz (1x for now, later going to buy one more)
  • SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 240 GB
  • HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB
  • GPU: Cannot decide between GTX 960 Asus Strix 2GB or 4GB and GTX 970 Zotac for 350€. Is it really worth to get 970? If not, then 2 GB or 4 GB 960?
  • Case: Cooler Master Silencio 452
  • PSU: Corsair CX600

So yeah, that's what I'm thinking about buying. Really can't decide between the GPUs, is it worth a lot performance wise to get a 970? Also which motherboard to take?

It is worth it to go for the 970. The 960 is not really that great of a card

for csgo and GTA V if you play at medium/high settings on GTA V you'll be fine with a gtx 960 but the 4gb might be nice in the future when games really need it especially if you decide to sli a second gtx 960, plus I think its only like another $30 for the 4gb model

970 will be well worth your money.

Mine keeps GTA running smooth at 72 FPS (OCed monitor) almost maxed out ('cept grass and shadows cause they're serious resource hogs) while rendering at 2400x1350 (custom resolution, a surprisingly effective alternative to most Anti-aliasing)
