Is there a diffrence between on board network or a cheap $20 nic?

And is there a card that suppports LAN and Wifi?

Theres pretty much no difference, only more expensive NIC's have more features and performance (Intel etc...)

As for such a card ive never seen one, just put a normal wi-fi card and use the other ethernet port if needed.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

Not that I know of, but I would recommend NIC from Intel for both GLan and Wifi. For gigabit lan, you'd be looking at the mid $30s range and for the a/b/g/n card you'd be looking at about the same range.
