Hey guys first time poster here, I'm planning a bit of an upgrade to my current rig by getting a new case, an AIO cooler and maybe a couple of extra bits depending on how much is left over. This is my gaming pc and I'm looking to replace my case and try to do the cable management myself this time to get a handle on how everything works as the store I picked the parts from offered to build it themselves so I said why not (which I regret now) and of course anyway that I can upgrade my performance along the way would be nice. I tried to find as many relevant parts from my current build in pcpartpicker but couldn't find the name of the cpu cooler (it's a thermaltake that has blue fans, and the "box" is black with red accents).

Part I'd like to upgrade/replace:

  • Case: Define S (I like the clean look it has along with how open the inside is which should hopefully make it much easier to clean) I need something that can sit on my desk easily and one that allows for good air flow.
  • CPU cooler: My current cooler is far too big for my liking, was looking at an AIO cooler as a custom loop is just too much hassle for me and an AIO cooler does make things look nice and clean
  • GPU: I haven't kept in touch with gpus so I am open to suggestions

Budget: Roughly $500

Open to suggestions on everything for now.

Thanks for the suggestions, any reasons on the case? Also, do you think it's worth saving up for the gou and waiting for a 980 to drop in price?

RIght nevermind will be going with your suggesstions on the cpu cooler and gpu, just as a sidenote will an 850W PSU power all these ok?

lol its even overkill.. a 500W psu will run this thing great..you can SLI the 970 overclocked woth 850W psu. get a 600W psu with bronze or gold cert.. you will be good.. if you got enough money get the NZXT Hale82 v2 550W. . fully modular

the case is really cool with nice airflow.. but for me i think the NZXT S340 is better if you not worried about airflow.. . it doesnt suck at airflow but You are using an AIO cooler and that case was built for that...and now that you using an Nvidea card the airflow in the case will be good with rear and top fans .. and the cable management is golden.. hides the psu nicely so less cable stuff are shown.. . i really like that case

and with the gpu untill the 980 drops below 499 the 200USD premium over 970 is not worth it
