No point in a 3.1 stick, the NAND on the stick won't saturate a 3.0 port for some time to come.

This is a nice way to make a stick compatible with both standards.  I'm thinking that the C-to-A or A-to-C adapter will be quite popular in the near future though.

Eh, now that we have NVMe and 10Gb USB 3.1, I could see sticks saturating USB 3.1 easily in another couple years.

Depends, right now 1.2Gb/s (150MB/s) is extremely fast for a USB stick, so we're nowhere near the 5Gb/s cap of USB 3.0 yet.

The only thing that saturates a 3.1 port is an enclosure with SSDs in RAID.

As for NVMe, we're still some time away from that becoming small and cheap enough to be used in a USB stick.  Maybe in 2-3 years

its not 3.1 its 3.0

I'm aware of that, I was merely commenting on the 3.1-related question.  Perhaps I should have made that clearer.

uh ya, I agree. I dont know of really anything that I could see my self buying that needs faster speed then USB 3.0 let alone saturate it.
