i wonder if i am the only one who uses this cpu ...its old and fudged up ..but i can play gta v with 22-35 fps ..? wtf ..is just the game too optimized or is the cpu still capable of some gaming in 2015

That cpu is a huge bottleneck. What resolution or settings are you playing on?

Well, it's not thaaaaaat bad. Core 2 processors can still do stuff. Though to rid yourself of the bottleneck you might want a Q6600. They're dirt-cheap and really good for nice little rigs (see Scrapyard Wars.)

I'm using a E5200 in a linux server, primarily for an Oracle development database server and also an SVN repository.  And it can handle that stuff fine.

 

For games though?  If I had a graphics card (which I don't) and if it were running windows (which it isn't), I wouldn't expect alot in terms of game playing.  But I'd have fun trying.  It is a great little cpu.

 

My advice is to try it and form your own opinion.  You can always upgrade as KemoKa mentioned.

guys ...for the settings i am playing ...on gta v ..1366x768 and lowest settings  22-35 fps 

and this is the only next gen game i played ..

i usually i play bfbc2 and bf3 and cod mw2 mw3 cs go and stuff

bfbc 2 on highest settings possible

bf3 tweaked medium-ultra settings ..

cod ultra both of them

cs go tweaked high - low settings ..

but i noticed that any game made before 2011 will play with ultra settings on 60 fps (cause thats the maximum of my monitor )

 but anyway ..i am planning on getting a g3258 

i unparked the cpu and now i am able to play bf4 and cs go on highest settings
