Hi!

I'm planning on building a new PC to replace my old msi laptop. I have been drooling over components over the last few months and have put together a build i think would fit my needs. I'm paying for this with ny hard earned money, so i would like to not spend any uneccesary momey on things i don't need. Keep in mind i'm from Norway, so some prices might differ from your american prices. Without wurther adue, here is the list of components:

AMD fx-8350

NZXT source s340 black

Corsair cx600m 600w

CM hyper 212m evo

Samsung 850 evo series 250gb

Gigabyte ga-970a-ds3p

WD red WD30efrx 64mb 3tb

Crucial ballistix sport ddr3 1600mhz cl9 2x8gb

Nvidia Gtx 780ti

I tried to go for a slightly black and red theme. I'm getting the 780ti from a friend for about 250$ so that's why i'm using that. I will be doing some light overclocking so i have gone a little over the top om the powersupply, so bare that in mind.

Thanks in advance! :)

The CPU will bottleneck the crap out of the 780ti. Get an i5.

I swapped to the i5-4690k and a new motherboard. The more power efficent i5 made it possible to downgrade the powersupply to a 500w aswell.

You will need a Z97 board for the i5 to work. The i5 can work on the Z87, but you need to do a flash bios update, Which requires a CPU like a 3670K.

I would get this, the psu you chose is crap and i changed the ram since you can gain about 10 fps in bf4 with 2400mhz over 1600mhz. Also the WD Red is designed for NAS so that is unnecessary, wd green or black is you best bet

Newer games like the witcher 3, and some mainstream games like csgo and lol with my friends.

I have bf4 but i haven't played it in a year. The only reason i would play it, would be to check out the fps on ultra for brag rights [emoji14]

i love bf4 :P 270h played since feb xD BTW i edited the post, please read it again ^^

Still not sure if it's worth the 2400mhz RAM, but i'll consider it. For the psu and harddrive i just chose something that looked alright so i'll definetly change those.

i would have gotten 2400mhz ram if i knew the difference when i purchased the ram, but it's totally up to you

Hey steinarhansen352,

The plan looks good. The guys also gave you some good advice. I would read first what is recommended and supported in terms of frequency of the memory before deciding to go with 2400MHz.
Regarding the storage, it is a great thing to combine SSD with a HDD. WD Red drive is designed for NAS/RAID usage since it has additional features that make is more stable and safe to operate in such environments. If used in a regular desktop for simple storage, those features won't be utilized and the drive would perform like WD Green in terms of performance. I would consider swapping it for WD Green. :)

Why does everybody advice an I5? The FX 8350 is not that much diffrence with an I5 4670k soo, and I have one, and if I see some benchmarks with an I5, I get the same results, (with an GTX 970) so from experiance i'd say a FX 8350, but for future upgrades and things like PCIe 3.0 i'd say an I5...  What do you guys think?

I believe people are referring to the Single-core performance, differences in TDP, currency of the CPU itself (when it came out).

Don't get Corsair CX, it is overpriced, underperforming and due to this, rubbish. Look at EVGA B2/G2/GS or XFX TS/XTR, Antec High Current Gamer or any Seasonic.

i5 4670k - Z87X-UD3H - EVGA GTX 670 Sig 2 - Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 8GB Avexir Core White 1600Mhz - Corsair 750D w/ RGB LED Mod & Remote Control - 2x SP120 - 3x Enermax Cluster - 2TB Seagate SSHD - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 750W
