EVGA SuperNova 650W GS vs 750W G2 Power Supply

Since the new GTX 980 Ti GPU recommends a 600W PSU, was thinking maybe I should upsize my plans and choose the 750W G2 model instead of of the 650W GS model. I only plan to run a single overclocked GPU and overclocked CPU and RAM. Do you think 750W would be wise? There is not that much of a price difference.

If you're only running one card, either will be fine.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Get the 750w for head room and overclocking. Plus if the price isn't a big difference, why not go for the bigger one?

I'd say go for the bigger one, do you know what your current wattage need is? Because if you go for the 750w one then it depends how efficient it will be, or if you really care about that at all...

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

I haven't calculated wattage requirements but for what it's worth here is my tentative build plans. The EVGA SC GPU is a placeholder. I'm waiting to see what ASUS and others are doing with blackplate overclocked models when their prices are announced:

If you plan on keeping your current Monitor, then a 980ti is a waste of cash.

After I get my new PC 'established' then replacing the monitor to a higher than 1080p will be next up.

Why not go with a micro atx build ? The Phanteks Evolv matx has virtually the same footprint. If you go with the G2 750W then you would have the option of SLI in the future.

Also are you looking for a certain colour scheme ? As the Noctua Brown doesn't match that well with most things.

The Noctua colors go okay with something like the ASUS Z97I-Plus or a Gryphon. I'm not locked into a color theme. I'm more going for performance and if colors and brands match then all the better. For mATX my motherboard would be the ASUS Maximus VII Gene and I'd use a larger cooler like a Thermalright Archon IB-E X2 or Cryorig R1 Universal. I could use the R1 Universal on the mITX but no room for a rear case fan unless mounted on the outside. Even though I like the looks of the Phanteks Evolv ITX the mATX Evolv doesn't turn me one and it's more expensive. I like the Thermaltake Core V21 so I'd go with that for maximum configuration possibilities. For mATX the EVGA Supernova 850w is my choice.
