980 sli or 980ti?

TitanXYZ

My system currently consists of:

  • 3570k
  • GTX 980
  • EVGA 650w Supernova

So I have a few questions and any replies would be helpful:

1) Would I have enough power to run a 980ti or 980sli?

2) Should i wait for an evga superclocked version?

3) Is it worth the upgrade for 1440p gaming and potentially higher resolutions?

980 is obsolete now. The only 3 options that are worth considering are the 970, the 980 TI and the 390x

For people looking to buy a new card? yes absolutely

It's a fine card, there's just ZERO reason to buy one as of now.

I'm in the same boat, will most likely buy a second 980 as it will be quite a bit powerful than a single 980ti.

Your PSU should have enough juice to power sli 980s, but just barely.

SLI would be a great move but alot of people (friends of mine) telling me that there are alot of problems in SLI? dont know cause never tried dual GPU...what do you guys think? and also is 850w 80+ gold enough for both gpu?

SLI works better now than ever although there can be issues with it, but for 99% of the time it should be pretty smooth sailing! Worst case is a game cant handle it very well and you'd have to disable SLI for that game, but most games now have great SLI support.

Oh and with DX12 coming soon SLI will be even better!

Even a 750w would be fine (although that's probably the lowest one possible)

Alot.

r9 390x will probebly take a dump on the benchmark charts for 980.

980ti already took a dump on the 980.

And those who dont have the money for either of the new cards will probably get 970.

Prepare for ebay to fill up with old 980s

Wish it would drop at least $150 and not just $50. That's pretty much a tank of gas for the week. When the 780TI came out it dropped the price of the 780 $150 and the 770 $50.
