the title is pretty much self explanatory... is this a good build?

any thoughts? let me know, this is my first build

i want to game at full 1080p 60fps

heres my pcpartpicker link :

What games are you going to play? This is good but I dont think it could handle demanding games like Witcher 3 and Shadows of Mordor at 1080p 60fps.

Fan controller unnecessary, I'd get an i3 since it's for gaming (if you plan on video editing on a budget, nevermind), stay away from the v300 at all costs, the PSU is a tad bit overkill, and the CPU cooler comes with thermal paste applied so you don't need the arctic silver 5. If you do want some thermal paste, there are better options.

This PC isn't going to max out AAA games at 1080p on ultra at 60fps, but turn down a couple settings and you'll have 60fps. If you apply those changes, you'll have a  darn good build.

EDIT: Remember to follow your own posts so you get notified when someone replies, @carlos9759 ! Also, I'd like to remind you to quote replies just in case you didn't know.  :)

will the pc run hot ? i included the fan controller because im having 5 fans in the case and the mobo supports 4 (including CPU fan) which leaves 3, and i know nothing about SSDs, any recommendations? also, i heard the standard cpu cooler sucks so im getting the HT2

I didn't even see those fans. That much is totally unnecessary. a total of 3 case fans (excluding CPU fan of course) is definitely enough. And even if you did get 4, just use a fan splitter for two of them and you'll be just fine.

A 280 is good for that. If you could fit in a 280x you'd be even better. If you want, you could wait 15-20 days until AMD releases their new cards. You may see a drop in price.

@carlos9759 the AMD FX line is good for cheap productivity computer for video editing, folding, etc. but for gaming FX CPUs have a lower, more variable frame rate even when compared to a weaker intel CPU.

This is what I would build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FknF99

Changes you could make to the build:

the case and case fans are up to you, I just picked a cheap case that you can work inside.

could get a bigger SSD. I only added a 32GB SSD for the OS but if you want faster load times in games I would go bigger.

is this better?

@Mattrixx i also forgot to tell you, i am buying the fan controller but not only for the fans but because im also planning to add LED strips around the glass of the case, i like dimming the lights and since i made a few a changes, the motherboard only supports 1 fan so might as well add the fan controller with the 4 fan pack

i forgot to add the power supply but ill figure that out in a bit

Well, you could get the CPU that Searinex picked out and save $30. Keep in mind if you keep the current MOBO and CPU you have chosen, you may have to get a pre-haswell CPU just to flash the BIOS for it to work with the 4690. So yeah, just get the 4590. Also cut the CPU cooler as it's unnecessary to save another $16. You'd be able to save a bit more doing these things.

@carlos9759 I wouldn't buy the fan controller. You should not be changing the speed of the case fans, and every 4 pin connector on the power supply can be turned into a 2 pin fan connector (the part should come with the fans ). You can still change the fan speed (12v high, 7v mid, 5v low) with 2 pin connector with a very simple rewire. And the LEDs can also be powered by the 4 pin PSU connector or USB port.

Fan speed controller: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooling-air-pressure-heatsink,3058-4.html(the 2 pin fan connector should be set to 12v by default, you can push the pins out with a pen, push the pin back in to reinstall it to the 4 pin plug)

DO NOT connect both the 12v and 5v to the positive end of the fan, your computer will not turn on or may even short your PSU. the 12v will go back into the PSU instead of the fan. And even if you did get 17v on a case fan by using the -5v (harder to rewire) the fan will die shortly after.
