Go to solution Solved by Mightyinvader,

Get a decent $110 Z97 motherboard and a G3258, then save your pennies for the graphics card. That said, you don't have a dGPU yet, so I would get the graphics card you want first, sit on that for a while and then once you've saved up, upgrade to Z97 (or hell, even Z87 would work just fine.)

Well said. But you make a good point dont get a APU with a gpu

The A10-7850K is supposed to be used as like a general-use processor, not really for gaming all that much. You can certainly put a decent graphics card like a 7970 or a 780 in there and it will be pretty badass at gaming, but that's all I can say, really. There's not a lot of point in having an APU if you're not going to use the graphics part of the chip in the first place.

If anything, the one thing I would recommend if you are just going with the onboard graphics is fast memory. APUs benefit extremely well from fast RAM. The faster, the better, because the APU's iGPU is using system memory for graphics.

yeah i know that about the ram, now i have the mobo asus a88mx a something like that and it said that it works with ddr 2133 but i doesnt really, it is only capable of reading it, i want to change it to a MSI A88X-G45 GAMING ATX FM2+,

the gtx 780 is expensive as i see it, i think i will take the 7970 but i am still thinking about it thx tho

i am looking for a gpu compatible with the apu

They're all compatible, all that would happen is that the APU would turn off its iGPU and let the dGPU take over. If you went with an R7 250 you could crossfire it with the iGPU, but it's really not worth it. Get a good graphics card instead.

I have a 5800K acting as a 750K with a 7870 and it performs really really well, it's a very competent gamer. If you look at scrapyard wars, they paired an ancient Core 2 Quad with an R9 290 and it worked just fine, with not too much of a bottleneck at all.

You could, with the newer top-end cards you'd really be pushing it, but I don't see why you couldn't game on that. To be honest if you're going with tons of graphics horsepower you'd be better off upgrading your platform instead and go with Z97.
