Samsung 840 or other!

Hey, 
I'm looking for a 250GB SSD or higher for less that £130. The Samsung 840 is the top contender at the moment. The only thing worrying me is the slow write speeds. However, the reads are good and this is my first SSD and believe I won't recognize the speeds. Even so are there any better drives? I may be able to go slightly higher.

The write speed does not matter that much read speeds is important but you could go with sandisk ultra plus

I've just looked into it a they're extortionately priced here in the UK at £190!

Try the Sandisk Ultra Plus.

 

The 840 250 isn't that slow, it's the 120 that's really bad with write speeds.

 

And write speeds do matter to some people, not everyone uses there SSD for the OS only. I use mine to edit video projects on so write speeds are definitely important to some people.

Yes the 120gb is slow but since he's going for the 250gb ssd I think he will be ok, it's his first ssd so the speed difference from a fast HHD to a good solid Samsung 250gb SSD will be amazing for him and having all your programs running so fast will be awesome.

 

Just remember when you install your OS set your rubbish bin and download folders to a HHD not your SSD.
