Stuttering on laptop

Go to solution Solved by Achilles97,

I managed to stop the stuttering by disabling the Turbo Boost function to reduce heat output.

Thanks for the help though.

Hey guys, I just bought a new acer laptop with i7 5500u and gt840m 4gb vram. There is severe stuttering when playing games like League of Legends in lowest graphic setting. It usually happened when CPU temp around 75 degree Celsius. Laptop is always connected to power and is set to high performance on power management.

Is my CPU throttling? If so how to keep it at a consistent frequency?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Other info:

WIN 8.1 64bit

I7 5500u

gt840m 4gb vram

8Gb ddr3l ram

1Tb 5200rpm hdd

Both unchecked

Have you tried going into windows power options and selecting the "High Performance" option?

Sounds like thermal throttling to me. When you play League, is it on a flat surface with nothing underneath it? If there isn't enough room underneath it will throttle itself to avoid overheating. If it has nothing underneath it when it starts stuttering you might need to get one of those laptop stands with built in cooler.
