Jump to content

On a single thread Haswell is very good due to its 512bit floating point unit & instruction set support.

 

And obviously on a multithreaded workload Haswell cpus with lots of cores are very good.

Probably the 5960X then.  Unless you want to go to the Prosumer or Server market.  Then it is probably an E7-8890 http://ark.intel.com/products/84685/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E7-8890-v3-45M-Cache-2_50-GHz
