Home server specs

So id like to know what kind of specs a small, medium, and large budget home server. And in case you are wondering, a low budget to me is like $500. And Id also like to know what kind of budget would give me the most for the money I had spent. Thanks for help in advance.

What do you want the server for? if its just file sharing/backup then I use a Pentium G3220 and it performs perfectly, maybe 2 drives in raid 1

 

Medium budget would be an i5 maybe with a raid 5 array

 

high end an i7 or xeon in raid 10 or with SSDs perhaps

It would still be very helpful if you would clarify what you plan to use the thing for. As the medium and high end stuff can vary dramatically depending on what you're trying to accomplish.
