Hello all,

I'm following LinusTechTips on YT for about 2 years now and I tought that asking in the forum may be a good choise.

I want to create a miniITX build with a budget of USD$ 1.000, 1.100 if it is worth. In it we should include the monitor.

The usage will be diversified, from getting a lot of app open, like XAMP, GIMP, more Browser, Virtual Machine to play maybe some last FPS games.

About the case I've Fractal Node 304 or Silverstone RVZ01, which I like more. Do you suggest other? I've also seen the Corsair 250D and 240 Air but their bigger than the RVZ01.

This is something I drafted, with is I'm spending around USD$ 1.150.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Silverstone AR05 40.2 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock H97M-ITX/AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Dual-X Video Card
Case: Silverstone RVZ01B Mini ITX Desktop Case
Power Supply: Silverstone 500W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular SFX Power Supply
Monitor: Asus VX248H 60Hz 24.0" Monitor

Thanks for help on my first miniITX build!

Could you put this on PCPartPicker.? It makes helping you a lot easier

If you want my attention, quote my post or I will not see it. I ignore builds that do not use PCPartPicker.

Sure, here it is http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6r2rsY

For the case, i'm looking to get this: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/phanteks-case-phes215pbk

Very nice case  :)

Another important thing that I forgot was that it mustn't be a load system  B)

The AR05 cpu cooler is not really intended for an 84W TDP processor. The Intel stock cooler will do a decent job. But at load it is not as quiet as other coolers.

Consider an IPS monitor. Better color reproduction and viewing angles.

Here is a build in the Node 304.

you could get 8gb of ram and still be fine. Everthing else looks about right. Maybe get that 280x used? or get a used 290 for the same price as a new 280x

  • I really don't like the stock cooler. Which silent cooler would you recommend? (Does the Evo actually fit?)
  • Yes, I know the IPS may be better but the price of starts around $230 as I've seen
  • Which case is better (space/cooling/etc), not considering the aestheticism of it?

Yes, I know, I added 16gb to stay "large", also for the future and have already the dual channel RAM.

If I would like to shrink the price on the Video Card what could be a good choise? 750Ti?

The Hyper 212 EVO will fit in the Node 304.

The RVZ01B is likely going to run a little warmer with an air cpu cooler simply because it cannot house larger coolers.
