Im wanting to upgrade my pc, i built it about 4 years ago and after not being in the pc building world since, i have completely fell out of the loop of what has come out.

Current build

Amd x6 phenom 1100t black edition

Gtx 560ti reference card

8gb kingston 16000mhz (not sure)

ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0

Random 1tb hard drive.

This is just from the top of my head. I will update when I open it up.

What should i upgrade to get this thing up to date? I use this pc for gaming (cs:go and gta v) and editing with vegas pro 13. Not looking to spend more than $600~

Im planning on maybe dual booting osx Yosemite. That would be amazing if you could recommend me a motherboard that is compatible with osx.

Boom! Ka-fucking-pow!

Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H

That'll do you well, friend.

Your amazing. Thank you!

If you would like a complete list, here you go.http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.8.2

EDIT: This list seems dated.

Just remember, both CPUs I have mentioned are Socket LGA1150, so h81/87/97///b85///z87/97 motherboards only.

If you go with a non 97 chip set, go with a haswell chip not a haswell refresh, so that the bios is garaunteed to accept the chip.

Options being 4440/4670k/etc. Pcpp can help tell you what ones are refresh and which aren't.

BtW, hackintosh seems to be highly voltatile on which exact hardware you have. Don't expect to be able to get everything working, as its a (hella sketchy) workaround.

That being said, don't let my words of caution dissuade you, there's no loss to trying to do it, aside from wasted time in the off-chance it doesn't work.
