Can I make this cheaper? :)

Hey guys just wondering if there is anyway for me to make this build cheaper WITHOUT loss in performance! All advice is appreciated.

go for a diffrent GPU. 960s are not the best price/perfomance. do you mind going amd?

 

drop the K processor unless you REALLY want to overclock. for gaming, you wont notice a diffrence, and will benfit for more going towards the gpu

The R9 280 (or 280x) is about a fiver cheaper, but gives much better performance than the 960.

 

Edit: You also might want to go for 2x4gb sticks of RAM rather than 1x8gb. This means that you can run them in duel channel and get better performance in theory, and it might work out a little cheaper

Yeah I was certainly considering the 280x, but the power efficiency and temperatures are horrendous!!! Ok i shall drop the K, wasn't really considering OCing! But seriously, not sure if this build will handle the temp of a 280x! :o

atm i would go for the 960 because the witcher 3 deal that just is a must have for the most pc guys atm

You're saying buying a graphics card that has less power but performs about 3 fps better in one game is a good idea.

Change the psu to an ATX sized one.

280x doesnt run THAT hot unless u overclock it massively like i did.
