Laptop won't turn on unless I give it a whack!

Hey guys, my mothers Packard Bell Easynote TM01-RB-015UK won't turn on unless i hit it a few times haha. Once its on its fine although it does not keep time. It also does not completely shut down it goes through all the shutdown screens hen goes black but does not turn completely off. The charger and battery are 100% working and i don't think its an overheating problem because the same happens on a cold boot. Any suggestions? I was thinking if it works when i hit it it must be a loose connection? but where?
