Hello guys and sorry if this is in wrong topic but i'm new here :P

Once summer is coming my house temperatures raise to the roof ,so as my pc's..

I love making and editing videos ,although my pc is from 2008 (i think) and it was my brothers.. Anyway ,now i want to upgrade it a little bit and i will start from the temps.. 2 of the fan cases are not working so i will change them.. Once i get in the upgrade section i would also like to change some other things..

I would like if you could suggest me some cpu cooling units (not very expensive, about 35 euros maximum)

Is it ok if i add 2 extra ram modules but from different brand, model e.t.c but get the same capacity (2GB each)

My current graphics card is GDDR3.. is it ok if i add one different which is GDDR5 ? (i have a XFX GTX 285 PCI Express 2.0 x16) (i want to add a GTX 960 Windforce 2X OC 4GB PCI Express 3.0 x16) do i have to remove my current graphics card or i can use them both together ?

PC Specs: Motherboard : Gigabyte EP31-DS3L

Graphics Card : XFX GTX 285

                 CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

                 RAM : (2x) Kingston Hyper X Blu 2GB DDR2

                 Power Supply : 850 Watt

Thank you very much for your time

Cpu cooling: Hyper 212 Evo (Can't beat it on a budget)

Ram: Could lead to instability. Advice:

- Replace all current sticks with new sticks.

- Find ram that matches your ram in some parameters: Size, timings. Speed doesn't matter since it'll all be downclocked to the lowest speed dimm. You can add them without much problems.

GPU: You can add em both, you can run them both. You'll not be able to combine their performance for games though.

You can use them seperate for rendering. Eg: Card A is doing a rendering task, Card B can power your display while playing a game. (If video editing software supports GPU acceleration)

Welcome to the forum.

A GTX 960 would be a great replacement for your GTX 285, given that you play on a 1080P resolution. (yes you'll have to replace it).

I wouldn't invest further into your current platform however. You could add another 2x2 GB kit of RAM but it's not worth it. You should think about a platform upgrade (Motherboard + CPU + RAM) with Intel Skylake release this year.

For a CPU cooler I'd recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, bequiet Shadow Rock 2 or Thermalright Macho Rev.A. Be sure to look for compatability with your LGA 775 CPU socket. Also, once you upgrade to a newer platform, you should be abled to use the included other mounting options for the new CPU.

who cares...

Thank you very much for your answers.. (i didnt expect so fast :D )

The total budget would be MAX 100 euros (without the graphics car which i will add later on)

KamiKatze (what an awesome username :P) : i hope to buy a new custom build pc.. but since then.. i need to collect money.. im hoping that on christmas i will start building it ( and i will add the gtx 960 first to my current and then to my new pc).. About the ram : i found these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-chips-4GB-KIT-2x2GB-PC2-6400-DDR2-800Mhz-240pin-Desktop-Memory-For-Intel-/161452073922?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25974b23c2.. they are cheap ,and in my opinion they worth 25 if they are 4gb.. Tell me what you think of those..

About the Cooler Master.. will it fit ? by the way my case is Unicorn Sigma metal sorm

If you are running out of RAM and you're waiting until christmas, it could be worth adding 4 GB for ~$30. Try finding RAM that's simialr to your exisitng RAM (speed, timings, size etc.).

About the CPU cooler, i don't know if it will fit, i can't find anything about the case. You can also just measure the distance yourself and then look for low enough coolers when buying one.

sorry i may did not understand .. KamiKatze told that i have to replace my gtx 285 .. MrKickkiller told '' GPU: You can add em both, you can run them both. You'll not be able to combine their performance for games though. ''

Normally, you have one graphics card which does all the work. You can use your GTX 285 as a dedicated PhysX card, however this is a very outdated techniqure and it doesn't bring any noticable performance. You should definiteley just use the GTX 960.

who cares...
