Hi everyone

not sure if you're going to see this,but...

My name is Erick and I'm from Brazil. I've been following linustechtips on youtube for a while and it helps me a lot, specially the game fps tests and Benchmarks videos. Great job... Thanks for that!

This is a feedback/request post.

I really belive you should make a video explaining in details WHAT MAKES A GRAPHIC CARD BETTER THAN ANOTHER... since some of your work is to review and test these cards, people out there don't really understant, for instance, why a r7 240 4GB sucks compared to a r7 260x with "only" 2GB in BF4 1900x1080 medium settings.

I still have unsolved issues in some subjects and I strongly belive that a more detailed, explanatory video or series of videos, would save time/energy to those who, like me can't find much reliable information particularly in my native language (unfortunately most of the informations we got are from dubios sources like game foruns and things like that).

I'm not a video maker but I guess it must be insanely hard to writing, editing, recording, time consuming and all the process of making such a thing, but this is firstly a request and secondly an idea of something really helpfull to your subscribers.

Thanks again guys.

p.s.¹ I'm sorry about the english mistakes (I don't have many chances to practice english where I live).

p.s.² if it's not possible to make it happend, I would appreciate suggestions on any material, book, article that could lead me to a solid concept.

I'm not sure if I'll see it either.....GG.

Anyway, Linus doesn't need to make a video to answer your question, we can answer it for you :)

The 260X is a newer card than the 240 (both still old) and just has better specs when compared to the 240. I wouldn't recommend you get either of them TBH.

With research sources it's pretty much just youtube videos and benchmarks on the web.  Linus's "as fast as possible" series can answer quite a few of your questions as long as there's a vid on it. But I still recommend you ask the community for quick, simple and descriptive answers :)

BTW, your English is very good seeing it's not your first language.

what really matters is the graphics processor. how it is made, its cores and ROPs, TMUs its memory bus, the clock speed. everything matters. ram is important too but not all 4gb cards are good for gaming. a graphics card needs a strong processor to be good for gaming. you can't compare core counts from one series of cards to another either. within a series is fine but comparing the core counts of an amd r9 270 to a gtx 750ti, or a gtx 760 to a gtx 960 is useless since they use different architectures. so your best bet is to look up gaming benchmarks to see which card is better.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
